A visual love letter to one of the most radiant people I've ever known, inside and out.
There are encounters in life that shift your perspective, and friendships that become a quiet form of spiritual practice. This session was both. To photograph my friend—this luminous soul who builds structures as an architect, nurtures life as a mother, and grounds bodies as a yoga teacher—is to document reverence in motion. Every line of her expression, every movement amidst the wilderness, spoke of an inner landscape as vast and beautiful as the Pacific Northwest itself.
I did not merely photograph her; I bore witness to a soul in communion with the elements.
- In the forest, she was the Ancient Wisdom—the quiet energy that feeds the moss and lifts the towering canopy.
- By the ocean, she was the Elemental Force—meeting the cold, churning waves with a warmth and fierceness that belonged entirely to her own untamed nature.
This visual story is a testament to her beautiful, radical authenticity. It is my expression of the deep love, care, and reverence I hold for one of the most radiant people I have ever known. May these images carry the same profound light she carries within her.
Capturing the Wild & Radiant Soul
There are people who simply glow. They move through the world with an inner light so brilliant, so compassionate, and so profoundly kind that simply being near them feels like a gift. My dearest friend—an incredible architect, devoted mother, and soulful yoga teacher—is one of those rare souls. To know her is to feel a deep love, care, and reverence; her heart is a profound reservoir of empathy and quiet thoughtfulness. This session was an attempt to capture her beautiful complexity, a day dedicated to letting her wild, radiant essence be fully expressed, from the moss-draped silence of the forest to the crashing symphony of the Pacific shore.
She carries the blueprint of creation in her hands as an architect, but her true structure is built on a foundation of deep compassion, quiet thoughtfulness, and boundless kindness. Yet, beneath this beautiful gentleness lies a powerful, elemental force—a wildness that yearns for the deep breath of the forest and the untamed power of the ocean. To know her is to feel a deep love, care, and reverence, and to witness her connection to the natural realm is to watch a soul return to its home.
Our journey began in the hushed, emerald cathedral of the PNW forest. The air was thick with the scent of cedar and damp earth, and ancient moss clung like velvet to the trees. Here, amongst the ferns and the towering silence, her connection to the Earth was palpable. She shed the layers of her structured life and became a creature of the wood—ethereal, grounded, and surrounded by the lush, living tapestry—as if the forest was breathing with her. This was the gentle prelude, the deep grounding before the glorious, untamed release.
Saltwater soul.
Watch her step out of the shadow of the trees and into the freedom of the tide.
Wild Expression and Artistic Self
As the sun began its descent, painting the sky with impossible hues, we moved to the rocky, wave-battered shore. This is where her radiance became absolute. Stepping into the sand and then into the churning, cold waves, she shed all constraints. It wasn't just a photoshoot; it was a pure, artistic act of self-expression. She was entirely in the moment, an elemental force meeting the raw energy of the sea. By blue hour, silhouetted against the dark water, she was the epitome of untamed beauty, fierce and free. The camera barely kept up with the sheer poetry of her being.
She is the stillness of the moss and the surge of the tide. Compassionate heart, wild spirit. Carried by compassion, driven by wildness. Witnessing her return to the natural realms. From the silent grounding of the forest to the brilliant roar of the sea. The alchemy of a beautiful soul.
Fierce and free. A portrait of the elemental spirit, captured between the churning waves and the fading sun. The last light. By blue hour, she was the silhouette of untamed beauty against the vast reverence of the sea. Shedding the structure, embracing the surge. The moment the wildness became absolute.
